This report, issued by Malaz Foundation for Women’s Support, provides a rights-based and analytical assessment of the reality of violence against children in the Arab Republic of Egypt during the second quarter of 2026, covering the period from April 1 to June 30, 2026. The report is based on a methodology for monitoring and analyzing incidents published in Egyptian newspapers, news websites, and digital news platforms, in addition to available official data and statements. Its aim is to identify recurring trends and patterns of violence against children and analyze the contexts in which violations occur, thereby contributing to prevention and protection efforts and evidence-based policymaking.

During the monitoring period, Malaz Foundation for Women’s Support documented and analyzed 124 incidents of violence against children. It should be emphasized that this number does not constitute a comprehensive count of all incidents that occurred during the period, but rather reflects the cases that could be monitored and documented through the available sources. These data are significant because they provide practical indicators of the nature of the risks faced by children, the most prevalent forms of violence, the environments in which violations occur, the motives associated with them, the relationship between perpetrators and child victims, and the levels of development and severity of violence.

The monitoring results reveal clear diversity in the forms of violence against children. Sexual harassment ranked first among the documented patterns, with 32 cases accounting for 25.80%, followed by assaults with 28 cases accounting for 22.60%, murder with 19 cases accounting for 15.30%, economic exploitation with 18 cases accounting for 14.50%, and neglect with 14 cases accounting for 11.30%. Kidnapping and attempted kidnapping cases accounted for 13 cases, or 10.50%. This distribution reveals a landscape that combines recurring forms of violence and everyday violations with extremely serious crimes that directly threaten children’s lives, safety, and freedom.
