Malaz Foundation for Women’s Support implemented the second and final training, “Take Your Step,” over two days as part of the “From Protection to Change” programme, with the participation of 30 women working on a daily-wage basis in the agricultural and industrial sectors.
The training focused on practical steps for addressing problems and violations in the workplace, equipping participants to analyze situations they may encounter, identify the nature of the problem, and determine the appropriate steps to address it. This included documenting incidents, identifying appropriate intervention pathways, and knowing which institutions and mechanisms they can turn to for support or to file a complaint.
The training also addressed a range of tools and skills to help participants respond to different situations in a more structured manner and make informed decisions based on a clear understanding of the options available to them, rather than responding to problems in an arbitrary or isolated manner.
“Take Your Step” relied on practical exercises and scenario-based activities, enabling participants to practice responding to hypothetical workplace problems drawn from real-life working conditions, consider possible courses of action in each situation, and assess the potential outcomes and challenges associated with each option.
The second training concludes the training phase of the “From Protection to Change” programme, marking the Foundation’s transition towards building on the fieldwork carried out through monitoring, documentation, and needs assessment, as well as developing advocacy and intervention tools addressing the issue of women’s precarious work.
This phase therefore represents a further step in Malaz’s work on the issue—not as an end in itself, but as part of a broader process aimed at developing interventions grounded in realities on the ground and responsive to the needs of women engaged in precarious forms of work.
