Malaz Conducts "Fundamentals of Protection from Violence" Training to Strengthen Awareness Among Vulnerable Groups in Beni Suef Governorate

As part of the activities of its Protection and Direct Support Program, Malaz Foundation for Women's Support conducted a training titled "Fundamentals of Protection from Violence" for members of vulnerable groups in Beni Suef Governorate. The training aimed to strengthen participants' basic knowledge and skills in violence prevention, enable them to recognize situations that may place them at risk, and equip them with practical strategies for responding safely.

The training was organized following the release of the Malaz Foundation Quarterly Report on Monitoring and Analyzing Violence Against Women in Egypt, which documented 128 incidents of violence during the second quarter of 2026. This reflects the Foundation's commitment to moving beyond documenting violations toward implementing field-based interventions that promote prevention, strengthen the capacities of the most vulnerable groups, and foster a culture of protection within local communities.

The training focused on simplifying the concept of protection from violence by linking it to situations participants may encounter in their daily lives. Sessions covered the definition of violence and its various forms, the distinction between acceptable and harmful behavior, recognizing early warning signs of risk, the importance of establishing healthy personal boundaries, and developing sound decision-making skills, as well as knowing when and how to seek support from trusted individuals or relevant institutions when exposed to violence or exploitation.

To ensure accessibility for the target audience—particularly participants with limited literacy—the training employed interactive and inclusive learning methods. These included storytelling, role-playing real-life scenarios, group discussions, and practical exercises that encouraged participants to share their experiences and explore effective responses to different situations in a simple and engaging manner.

The training witnessed strong participant engagement, with attendees discussing real-life situations from their own communities and practicing how to distinguish between safe and unsafe situations while identifying the most appropriate course of action. These exercises helped strengthen their ability to protect themselves and their families and reduce their vulnerability to violence and exploitation.

This training forms part of a broader series of activities implemented by Malaz Foundation under its Protection and Direct Support Program, which aims to enhance community awareness of protection principles, build the capacities of vulnerable groups, and support their access to safer environments where human rights are respected.

In this context, Radwa El-Khouly, Executive Director of Malaz Foundation, stated: "Our latest report demonstrates that violence is no longer a series of isolated incidents but a recurring pattern that requires strengthening prevention efforts alongside response mechanisms. Based on this understanding, we are committed to transforming the findings of our monitoring and analysis into practical training programs and community initiatives that equip vulnerable groups with the knowledge and skills needed to recognize risk indicators, make safer decisions, and protect themselves from all forms of violence and exploitation."

Malaz Foundation continues to implement programs that promote a culture of protection and prevention, driven by the belief that while data provides the foundation for understanding the problem, meaningful field action is what creates lasting impact in the lives of individuals and communities. The Foundation also believes that strengthening awareness and practical skills represents the first line of defense in preventing violence, safeguarding human dignity, and ensuring every person's right to live in safety.
