Malaz Foundation for Women's Support has released its quarterly report on monitoring and analyzing violence against women in Egypt, covering the period from April to June 2026. The report sheds light on the escalating trends and patterns of violence against women and girls, drawing on verified data collected and documented during the reporting period.

Rising Incidents of Violence

During the three-month period, the Malaz Foundation documented 128 incidents of violence against women, including 60 cases of sexual harassment, 41 cases of physical assault, and 27 femicides. These figures underscore the scale of the problem and demonstrate that violence occurs across diverse settings, including within families, in public spaces, and in workplaces.

Escalating Pathways of Violence

The report highlights that violence against women often begins with seemingly less severe violations, such as sexual harassment or psychological abuse, before escalating into physical assault and, in some cases, resulting in femicide. The presence of early warning signs in many documented cases underscores the critical importance of timely intervention. However, the absence of effective protection mechanisms frequently allows violence to escalate unchecked.
