“Malaz for Women Support” was born from the intersection of pain and hope, emerging as a rights-based entity committed to protecting women and girls from violence and discrimination, and defending children’s rights against all forms of abuse and marginalization. It is a new beginning—one that writes the story of a safe home for every woman and child, an unbreakable shield of rights in the face of challenges, and a message of hope that declares: You are no longer alone… here is your refuge.

Our Mission

“Malaz” seeks to build a more just and equitable society by working across the following areas:

• Defending human rights and promoting the values of democracy and equal citizenship.
• Empowering women economically, politically, and administratively, and ensuring their effective participation in decision-making.
• Combating violence against women in all its forms:

1. Domestic violence (physical, psychological, verbal, and economic).
2. Sexual violence and harassment.
3. Cyber violence.
4. Harmful practices such as child marriage and female genital mutilation.
5. Discrimination in education and inheritance.

• Protecting children from all forms of violence and violations, including:

1. Domestic and community violence (physical, psychological, emotional).
2. Sexual violence within the family or outside it.
3. Bullying, neglect, and economic violence.
4. Confronting school dropout and child labor.

• Monitoring and following up on women’s political participation in elections and referenda, and working to support their presence.
• Empowering rural women and protecting their social and economic rights.
• Improving children’s conditions and developing their economic and social rights.

The Strength of the Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees of “Malaz” includes a group of diverse competencies that represent a fundamental pillar for the success of the institution. The board brings together academic expertise in political science, broad administrative and developmental experience, medical expertise in psychiatry, and media expertise. The board is distinguished by a female majority, delivering a clear message that challenges—in word and action—the false notion that women are unfit for leadership. The presence of this number of female leaders embodies “Malaz’s” belief in women’s ability to make decisions and create change, and affirms that true leadership is based on competence and will, not gender.

Statement of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees

In his first statement following the official registration, Mr. Anas Okail – Founder and Chairman of the Board of Trustees – said:

“Today we write a new chapter in the journey of defending human dignity in Egypt. The establishment of ‘Malaz’ was not merely a response to a societal need, but a moral commitment and a national duty toward every woman and child seeking safety and justice.

We chose to be a voice for those who have no voice, and a refuge for everyone whose paths have narrowed. Our belief is firm that change begins with faith in the human being and their right to a dignified life.

At ‘Malaz,’ we do not only promise protection and support; we promise to be on the front lines, unafraid of confrontation and uncompromising on principles. We will stand as an unbreakable barrier against all forms of violence and discrimination, and we will carry the banner of hope for every woman and child, until justice becomes a reality, not a dream. My message to every woman and every child: you are not alone. This is your home, and here are those who believe in you and defend you. Together, we will build a more just and equitable society, and we will not stop until justice and dignity are achieved for all.”

Statement of the Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees

In her first comment following the official registration, Ms. Radwa El-Khouly – Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees – said: “Malaz is not merely an institution, but a new humanitarian covenant. We came to break the cycle of silence and transform pain into strength. Malaz is a promise to every woman and every child that there are those who protect them and defend them. We are here to affirm that dignity is a right that cannot be taken away, and that the voices of the marginalized will remain present until they impose their reality.”
